DJ Day has officially grabbed the mudderflocking torch. He's the new go-to man with the game clock running out. He's the new big papi in the center of lineup. With his recent Got To Get It Right EP, Day awakened our ears and introduced us to his soulful downtempo vision that he's been perfecting over the years. Here's the completed picture, presented on CD for the first time. The venerable Melting Pot has compiled most of Day's output on its label, added some unreleased material, uncovered some Day guest spots, and then hadMike 2600 put it together visually. The result is probably the best downtempo album you'll hear this year (said confidently). If you need to be reminded, check: "Four Hills, A Place To Go, Glue's Making A Mess interlude, Close Your Eyes, Lovebug, Gone Bad," and "Day and Exile Live." There really isn't a mediocre moment here. Read the linear notes, savor, and wait for the hidden track like a 13 year old metalhead. 14 tracks in all. Highly recommended. |
